So here we are… After an 82 game season and three rounds of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs the same two teams are standing as last year, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings. Who is going to go home with Lord Stanley’s Cup? Will it be Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc Andre Fleury and the uber young Penguins? Or will the addition of Marian Hossa to already steller lineup of Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, and Niklas Lidstrom be enough for the Wings to repeat?
Your humble narrator from SaveFans.com is picking Detroit in 7. Kind of the obvious call but I see Detroit as too deep of a team to beat. Add home ice to the equation and you just can’t go against them. Canadian sensation Sid the Kid will have to wait until 2010 to hoist The Cup.
The good news is a long series means more games for you the fans to see in person at Joe Louis Arena and Mellon Arena! And anyone who has been to an NHL game knows hockey is the best spectator sport in the world by far.
So here you go Penguins and Wings fans… Pay what you want for Stanley Cup Tickets and watch history be made!
Evidently a New York Mets Fan got her arm stuck in a Citi Field toilet after having dropped her gold tooth. Security responded to her screams and eventually had to call a plumbing company to pry her crap stained hand free…classy!
On a more upbeat note, I suggest that you New Yorkers venture to Citi Field to watch some Summer baseball! Check out the upcoming Mets games:
In case you haven’t heard people, Michael Jackson fans are protesting the postponement of his concerts at the O2 Dome in London. You may recall that he narrowly avoided having his possessions auctioned off last month, but I digress…
Apparently Jacko / The King of Pop has delayed his residency in London, which means his first concert will be postponed! People are obviously pissed since they spent good money on travel expenses and event tickets. Sounds like AEG might become the next Ticketmaster in the court of public opinion There are also rumors that Jackson is suffering from Skin Cancer – not confirmation on that…
Jessica Simpson is a tall glass of water! And she loves her Pizza Hut as this commercial proves! Nice to know if the singing career doesn’t work out she can get a job at Pizza Hut.

So without further delay, allow me to recommend the top events in Vancouver, Canada from May 15 through May 28.

Saturday May 23
Jay Mohr at River Rock Show Theatre Tickets – TV sitcom and film star Jay Mohr is making his first appearance in Canada in over a year. Be there to witness this pillar of comedy kill with his ‘grey’ material.

As many of you know, SaveFans.com is staffed chalk full of concert loving Canadians. Love the Great White North baby!
I decided to share with you what I think will become the definitive list of Top Ten Canadian musicians of all time. This promises to be better than our world famous Top 10 Jewish musicians list. Gotta love Canada baby! Without further delay, we present you with the Top 10 list.
Number #10 – Celine Dion
Celine Dion is flat out one of the finest singers to ever walk the planet. Say what you will about her musical selection or fashion sense, but this classy Diva from Montreal has some massive pipes! Celine is also a savvy business woman who earned a reported $100M+ for her two year stint at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas…wow.
Number #9 Snow aka Darrin O’Brien
Admit it! This makes you nostalgic. This Reggae jam owned the airwaves and dominated MTV’s video rotation in the 90′s. Informer, something something something…yeah! Ironically, Snow has since moved from Toronto, Canada to pursue a career as a doctor in Toledo, Ohio.
Number #8 The Guess Who
The Guess Who were straight up cool. They ruled the roost in the 70′s and represented Winnipeg well. With hits like “Shaking All Over” and “These Eyes” almost everyone in North America is familiar with their work. Seriously check them out. They are doing a short tour with most of the original band in tow. I recommend that you catch The Guess Who at Del Mar Fairgrounds on June 23! Worth a trip to the States no?
Number #7 The Tragically Hip
Us Canadians know that the Tragically Hip are more than the REM of Canada! The crew from Kingston have entertained us for years and always bring the goods. Show your support my lovelies by going to their shows!
Lukas won Rockstar Supernova, basically American Idol for Rock in 2006. Lukas is a brilliant musician and vocalist that we KNOW will make Canada proud. His new album will be coming out later this year, so we encourage you to support this young and emerging talent from Toronto, Ontario.
#5 Gordon Lightfoot
While, he may not be your cup of tea, he is for your parents and laid back folk! I saw him perform in Vancouver a few years back and it was a special experience. I urge you to support Gordon by checking out a few of his prime shows.
This Jagged little pill was a pillar of Alternative Rock in the 90′s. Famous for several awesome and iconic videos that ruled the MTV video rotation, Alanis may be best known for dating fellow Canadian Dave Coulier when she was ONLY 15 years of age. Scandalous!
Number #3 Neil Young
Neil is the elder statesman of rock. Beginning with the Buffalo Springfield, moving on to Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and finally as a solo artist, Neil embodies what it means to be a musician’s musician. Living in Los Angeles, you grow to appreciate creative professionals opinions and the consensus is unanimous – Neil Young is boss. Anyone going to check out Crosby, Stills, and Nash without Neil Young?
Number #2 Bryan Adams
Bryan Adams is the Jesus Christ of the mid 90′s love song. Once cast as lead for the film Don Juan DeMarco, Bryan Adams had to settle for merely writing a song for the film when the studio got cold feet and replaced him with Johnny Depp. He wrote a little song called “Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman” heard of it
Show your support for fellow Canadian Bryan Adams and grab your tickets!
Rush is easily one of the best bands ever. Led by Jewish dynamo Geddy Lee, Rush was a vital force in the music business with an ever evolving sound that spanned Progressive Rock to Synthesizer laden pop (Tom Sawyer anyone). I love Rush and I hope you feel the same! Limelight baby!
I just gave Dane Cook a Comic Spotlight, so you know I think he has some talent. However, my friends at Comedy.com do not feel the same. They vote HACK! Anyways the boys and girls at Comedy.com produced a video highlighting the dreaded “Dane Cook’s Disease”!
You either love or hate Dane Cook. You think he is a comic genius or a hack. Living in Los Angeles and being tied closely to the Entertainment industry has made me a participant in multiple “I love” or “I hate” Dane Cook conversations. What do I think…I don’t want to prejudice you my dear readers so I will refrain from commenting directly. UNTIL the next post!
Anyways, I have seen Dane perform live and I can promise you it will be HIGH energy and funny. These are my cherry picked top Dane Cook live performances from May 15 through 30!
Friday May 15 in St. Louis, Missouri
Dane Cook at Scottrade Center Tickets – Welcome to St. Louis, a surprisingly fun town chalk full of boozers and great food. All you Midwesterners check it out!
Thursday May 28 in Glendale, Arizona
Dane Cook at Jobing.com Arena Tickets – Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale – same thing. Frat boys, Charles Barkley and gorgeous girls getting plastered and painting the town red. Why not get plastered with Dane Cook?
Dane Cook at Staples Center Tickets – City of Angels is the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, scores of beautiful women and best of all – me. Or should I say yo. This is Dane’s place of residence too so you better believe this is going to be the highlight of his tour!
Wilco are musician’s musicians. This is a band that has paid their dues, battled with their label, and still managed to build a career in the process. Like a lot of folks, I was first introduced to Wilco through their album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Little did I know they would outdo themselves with the under appreciated A Ghost is Born.
They are back out on tour my little droogies, I recommend that you see them live and purchase their self titled Wilco album slated for release in June 2009. Without further delay I want to discuss the shows that I believe will matter most.
Wilco at Abraham Chavez Theatre Tickets – This show will be in my hometown of El Paso, Texas a lawless city on the border of Old Mexico and West Texas. Nostalgia…kicking…in….
Monday June 22
Wilco at The Wiltern Tickets – The first of three shows in the City of Angels otherwise known as Los Angeles, California. Be there or be square.
Wednesday July 8
Wilco at Wolf Trap Tickets – This funky little show in Vienna, Virginia is going to be special. Don’t ask me how I know just be there if you are in the area.
Monday July 13
Wilco at Keyspan Park Tickets – Wilco heads to Brooklyn, New York to play the open fields. Get toasted and cozy up to someone special and enjoy this outdoor event.
As always we here at SaveFans.com are dedicated to bringing you the 411 on an event near you. Today we focus on one of my favorite cities Boston, Massachusetts baby! Beantown, we love that dirty water!
Without further delay, these are my top ticket event recommendations for Boston from May 11 through May 17.
Monday May 11
Third Eye Blind at the House of Blues Event Tickets – Do you remember these guys? I remember that they owned the video rotation on MTV when I was in high school. I also remember them being pretentious Check them out for the novelty effect bros.
