As Tool continues to add 2010 summer tour dates, speculation continues to build that a new Tool album may be released by year’s end.

According to a newsletter sent to fans, “Members of the band are still in the process of writing new material (three days a week), and with the latest leg of the Puscifer tour nearing completion, it shouldn’t be long before the dry-erase board is filled with a bewildering array of color-coded intros, progressions, agitatos, con sordinos, crescendos, diatonics, inversions, resolutions, transitions, variations, obbligatos, consonance, and endings – the arrangements that millions will attempt to down-load off the internet.”

What is known at this point is that Maynard and the rest of Tool are set to play a mini-tour of arenas and amphitheaters in the U.S. and Canada in June and July.

The 2010 Tool tour schedule kicks off with a concert in New Orleans, LA at UNO Lakefront Arena on 6/19 and winds down with a concert in Sacramento, CA at Arco Arena on 7/13. Other featured 2010 Tool summer tour dates include shows in Houston, TX at Toyota Center on 6/20, Oklahoma City, OK at Ford Center on 6/23, Kansas City, MO at Sprint Center on 6/25, a two-night set in Denver, CO at Red Rocks on 6/28 & 6/29, St. Paul, MN at Xcel Center on 7/1, and San Francisco, CA at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on 7/12.  Tool 2010 Canadian tour dates include shows at MTS Center in Winnipeg, MB on 7/4, Regina, SK at Brandt Center on 7/5, Edmonton, AB at Rexall Place on 7/7, and Vancouver, BC at GM Place on 7/9. More dates are expected to be added to the Tool summer tour schedule.

Expect to hear Tool play their usual setlist with songs Forty Six & 2, Schism, Parabola, Vicarious, Sober, and Stinkfist. It is unknown at this time if Tool will play any new material or have an opening act.
