The 2010-11 hockey campaign for the Pittsburgh Penguins has been quite interesting to say the least. After injuries to superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, most people wrote this team off. Most people were wrong. Somehow coach Dan Bylsma managed to pull career years out of role players like James Neal and Kris Letang, as well as from veterans like Alex Kovalev. The Pens find themselves as the four seed in the East, and their new “blue collar” image is the perfect fit for their “blue collar” fan base to rally behind in what should be an exciting 2011 playoff run.

A cup favorite to open the season, the Pens now find themselves as the Cinderella story waiting to happen. We here at SaveFans! love an a great underdog story and will be rooting for a team that will be a serious roadblock for powerhouses in the East and a major threat for the cup in they can get Sidney Crosby back into the lineup. However, the loss of a high caliber player like Evgeni Malkin, coupled with the questionable return of Sid The Kid, leaves our prospect for Penguins post-season success low at best. First or second round and out, for the men in Black and Yellow.
