Fans of the Washington Capitals have been infected with Stanley Cup fever since the moment Alexander Ovechkin arrived in DC. Unfortunately for those very same fans, all they have felt is a fever, never the sweet taste of Stanley Cup title. Could this be the season everything finally changes for the Caps? It very well might be. There has never been a Washington Capitals playoff roster deeper than the one taking the ice at the Verizon Center this post-season. A healthy Ovechkin, Semin, and the additions of veterans like Jason Arnott and Scott Hannan, could be the perfect storm for a team that grossly underachieved last year.

Washington Capitals Playoff Prediction For 2011: No roster in our opinion is deeper and more prepared for a Stanley Cup run than the Washington Capitals. The additions of leaders like Jason Arnott and defensive specialist Dennis Wideman compliment a lineup that already boasts some of the best young guns in hockey. A healthy Ovechkin will be the fuel in the gas tank that this well oiled machine will need to bring home the cup. The pressure is definitely on though, as Washington fans will not settle for anything less than a championship this season. We like the Caps to come out of the East, especially if they lock up the top seed, but look for them to lose in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals to the Western Conference representative we are analyzing next…
