We open the 2011 edition of our NBA Playoffs analysis – teams, tickets, schedules, predictions – with none other than the defending champions of the professional basketball world, the Los Angeles Lakers. Once again seen as the favorites to take home the crown, the Lakers are eying a 3-peat – what would be the fourth such feat for Phil Jackson, and could send him into retirement on the highest possible note.
Key Players: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher
Head Coach: Phil Jackson
How They Fared in 2010: NBA Champions defeating the Boston Celtics in 7 games in the NBA Finals
LA Lakers Playoffs Prediction For 2011: It has been a roller coaster season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The off-season saw the Lake Show add toughness and veteran leadership off the bench with key pieces like Steve Blake, Matt Barnes, and Theo Ratliff. They also successfully retained the services of both Derek Fisher and Shannon Brown. When the Lakers began 8-0, many saw the Purple and Gold threatening the Chicago Bulls record of 72 wins in a season. Then things went downhill, hitting rock bottom by losing to the lowly Cavs capping a three game losing streak heading into the All-Star break. Well, the Lakers have now won 17 of 18, are threatening for the best record in the league, and are steamrolling heading into the 2011 NBA Playoffs. Can they ride the momentum to their 3rd straight crown? You know we love Kobe, Pau, Lamar and Co. here at SaveFans!, and, provided Andrew Bynum stays healthy for the first time in the postseason, we, once again, see the Lakers as the 2011 NBA Champions.

The NBA and NHL off-seasons got a little more exciting this past week, with the annual league drafts breathing life into some struggling franchises. Star-in-the-making players, like first overall picks John Wall and Taylor Hall, have fans beaming in Washington DC and Edmonton.
The Washington Wizards drafted Kentucky Wildcats guard John Wall with the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. The Wizards are hoping for production similar to Chicago Bulls point guard, and number one draft pick, Derrick Rose, who took home Rookie of the Year honors in 2008.
The Edmonton Oilers selected Windsor left wing Taylor Hall with the first pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. It has been a slow decline for the Oilers since reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006, as the franchise owned the worst record in the league in 2009-10. If Hall pans out like 2008 Tampa Bay Lightning number one draft pick Steven Stamkos, who topped the NHL in goals last year, the storied franchise could see a quick rebound and possible playoff appearance.
Some players drafted in 2010 will become household names, others will be busts. With free agency looming in July, it will be interesting to see if teams can get over the hump and dethrone the 2010 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers and 2010 NHL Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
Can someone please give Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest his own reality tv show?
In case you missed it, Ron-Ron’s off-court game 7 antics were almost as enjoyable as his on-court game 7 performance. Artest repeatedly thanked his psychiatrist, gave shout-outs to his hood in Queensbridge, introduced the world to his family, praised Kobe Bryant for actually passing him the ball, and taught us how Zen-Master Phil Jackson could “speak” to him from the sidelines.
Without further ado, view the Ron Artest 2010 NBA Finals Game 7 press conference video – the best in the history of sports!
Ron Artest’s post-game interview with ABC – ESPN. Thank you Dr. Santi!
And as an added bonus, here is Ron Artest’s new rap single, aptly titled Champions. With a few more tracks like this, we might be selling Ron Artest tickets at SaveFans! soon enough…
The Blackhawks treated fans in Chicago to their first hockey championship in 48 years, the Lakers treated fans in Los Angeles to their first ever game 7 victory over the hated Boston Celtics.
That’s when we decided to “mess things up” for him.
We caught Elliott shopping in a local grocery store and with a little help from the staff, we set him up for the “it never gets old” pie in the face hidden camera prank.
Check out this funny hidden camera video of Elliott Yamin getting hit with a pie in his face:
The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2009-10 season as the odds on favorite to repeat as NBA champions. Anything less for fans in LaLa land would be a huge disappointment. Here is our guide for The Lakers in the 2010 NBA Playoffs:
Key Players: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher
Head Coach: Phil Jackson
How They Fared in 2009: NBA Champions defeating The Orlando Magic in 5 games in the NBA Finals
2010 LA Lakers Playoff Prediction: The 2010 Lakers playoff success will ultimately come down to health. When healthy, the L.A. Lakers are the most talented team in the league. Few will argue that statement. However, Andrew Bynum is hurt entering the playoffs once again, Kobe Bryant has nursed a broken finger, sore thigh, and injured back all season, and age is slowly creeping up on Derek Fisher. The Mavericks have bolstered their lineup to compete with the Lake show, and The Nuggets have something to prove after last years grueling NBA Western Conference Finals defeat. Despite all this, the Lakers should find themselves in the 2010 NBA Finals. If its a Lakers Cavs NBA Finals then Cleveland would have home court advantage which would be a big factor considering the Cavaliers are undefeated against L.A. this year. The Lakers do have a better record than both Boston and Orlando so a game 6 and 7 of the NBA Finals would be played at Staples Center against both of those teams. Lebron James could prove tough but we still see the Lakers repeating as 2010 NBA Champs, and we fully expect to see the Larry O’Brien Trophy being hoisted in a parade down Figueroa in Downtown LA come June.

2010 LA Lakers Playoff Schedule: (Home Games) and 2010 Lakers Playoff Matchups: (TBA)
ESPN.com is reporting Kobe Bryant will most likely miss the Los Angeles Lakers big game vs their arch rival Boston Celtics this Thursday, February 18th, at Staples Center. It appears as if his sore left leg is taking longer to heal than expected – another of many nagging injuries Bryant has played with all year including a broken finger and sprained ankle.
According to Kobe on Wednesday afternoon, “Right now, it’s a no. If I wake up tomorrow and I feel drastically different then I’ll play. But, I doubt it.” “It’s sore. I can’t push off of it enough to play so I’ll just take my time, do therapy around the clock and go after it as aggressively as I play.”
Does this injury affect prices on Lakers vs Celtics tickets? Hmm??? Why don’t you try making an offer at SaveFans! and see what kind of last minute deal you can get!
The NBA season has yet to tip off and we are already excited about the Christmas Day showdown at Staples Center! L.A. always lights up when Shaq returns to town but now that The Big Diesel is a Cleveland Cav he will have to take a back seat to the dream matchup (that we didn’t get in last years NBA Finals) of Kobe Bryant and Lebron James.
Throw in signings by Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon – there’s a whole new cast of characters in what could very well be a preview of a 2010 championship series.
Congrats to Kris Allen who won the most recent American Idol competition on Fox TV. The masses have spoken and Kris will likely go on to great fame and fortune like past Idol alums including Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, and Elliott Yamin.
Things are going so good for Kris he will be performing the National Anthem at Game 2 of the NBA Finals featuring the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic on June 7. Word to the wise people, cheer for the Lakers if you want to be hip
