2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview – Los Angeles Kings

Friday, April 8th, 2011

los angeles kings 2011 nhl stanley cup playoffs 150x150 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview Los Angeles KingsIts hard to sing I Love LA if you are a fan of the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings have only been to the Stanley Cup Finals once, led by Wayne Gretzky in 1993. Even that didn’t end well, as Los Angeles, victims of the infamous curved stick penalty, lost in five games to the Montreal Canadiens. Mired in mediocrity ever since, this was supposed to be the year the Kings made serious noise in the playoffs. Recent injures are making that task even more improbable. How improbable???

Home Games Played At: Staples Center

Key Players: Dustin Brown, Jonathan Quick, Ryan Smyth, Drew Doughty

Head Coach: Terry Murray

How They Fared in 2010: Lost to the Vancouver Canucks in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals

Los Angeles Kings Playoff Prediction For 2011: It has been a decade since the Kings shocked the world and defeated the mighty Detroit Red Wings in the opening round of the 2001 NHL Playoffs. Los Angeles has not won a playoff series since. Going into the 2010-11 season, LA Kings fans were quite certain that stat would change – especially coming off a near upset of the Vancouver Canucks last postseason. The prospects of the Kings making a splash in these Stanley Cup Playoffs is murkier than ever, with recent losses of top players Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams severely hurting LA’s chances. The Kings must now rely on their defense and goaltending, units that placed them amongst the stingiest in the NHL at giving up goals. Drew Doughty, Jack Johnson, and Jonathan Quick are officially under fire, and, if the Kings have any chance at making a run, they will all need to play the best hockey of their career. Assuming the current standings hold true, and the Kings get a round of home-ice advantage, we see them stealing a series off either Phoenix or Nashville. After that, its back to “wait until next year” in LaLa Land.

Lakers Versus Celtics And The NBA Playoffs

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

lakers versus celtics and the nba playoffs 2010 lakers celtics nba finals tickets series prediction schedule matchup Lakers Versus Celtics And The NBA PlayoffsTwenty years ago, Electronic Arts revolutionized they way we interact with sports by releasing a video game that featured real life NBA star players and their signature moves. The first-ever game to be officially endorsed by the NBA would change sports gaming forever. Appropriately enough, the game was called Lakers Versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs.

The game’s name was pretty much a no-brainer. If EA was going to pioneer the way we play basketball on our Sega Genesis they better do it with the two winningest franchises in NBA history. The teams’ combined 32 NBA titles (17 for Boston 15 for LA) mean Celtics and Lakers have accounted for more than half the championships since the league’s inception (63 seasons).

The Lakers-Celtics rivalry pretty much disappeared after The 80s. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird retired. The Lakers moved from the Great Western Forum to the Staples Center, the Celtics from the Boston Garden to the TD Garden. It seemed like we would never hear the these words screamed in unison, echoing from Beantown to Hollywood, “BEAT L.A.!”

Until three trades happened…

The Boston Celtics got Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Boston Celtics got Ray Allen from the Seattle Sonics. The Los Angeles Lakers got Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Fast forward to June 2008 at TD Garden and… “BEAT L.A.!” is back! The names Bird, Magic, Kareem, Worthy, McHale, and Parrish, may have given way to the names Kobe, Pierce, KG, Pau, Lamar, Ray, and Rondo, but the rivalry is just as heated in 2010 as it was in 1985.

We are on the verge of another chapter in the storied Lakers-Celtics rivalry. A 2010 Lakers Celtics NBA Finals is almost a forgone conclusion at this point, with both teams leading their respective Conference Finals series 2-0. The Celtics and Lakers have won a combined 13 straight playoff games and are pretty much dominating the 2010 NBA Playoffs.

If the 2008 Finals was any indication, than 2010 Lakers Celtics NBA Finals tickets will be a hot commodity. Almost as hot as Lakers Versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs was for Sega Genesis in 1990.

2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview – Los Angeles Kings

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

los angeles kings 2010 nhl stanley cup playoffs tickets predictions matchup schedule 150x150 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview Los Angeles KingsOur 2010 NHL Playoffs preview takes us to sunny Los Angeles, CA, a town known mostly for the Lakers and Dodgers. The LA Kings hadn’t caught the attention of the City of Angels until the late 80′s, when they acquired the biggest name in the history of hockey, Wayne Gretzky. It seems as if the Kings haven’t been serious cup contenders since The Great One left town, and its been more than a decade since the words LA Kings have even been whispered in a Stanley Cup conversation. American and Canadian Olympic standouts Jack Johnson and Drew Doughty might finally have people talking Los Angeles Kings, as they enter their first postseason since the 2004-05 lockout. Here is our prediction for the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 NHL Playoffs.

Home Games Played At: Staples Center

Key Players: Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty, Ryan Smyth, Alexander Frolov, Jonathan Quick

Head Coach: Terry Murray

How They Fared in 2009: Did not make the playoffs

2010 LA Kings Playoff Prediction: It’s been years since the Los Angeles Kings have made it to hockey’s “second season,” but fans seem poised that this is a team on the rise. One of the amazing surprise stories of the 2009-2010 regular season has been that of these young guns from the West, and it wouldn’t be a shock at all to see the beach town boys make some waves in the 2010 NHL Playoffs. In hockey, any team can win on any given night, and the Kings have the grit, toughness, and talent to prove that statement correct. The LA Kings have scrappy players like Wayne Simmonds and Justin Williams to complement the flash of mainstays like Anze Kopitar, Ryan Smyth, and Dustin Brown. On defense, it doesn’t get much better than Drew Doughty, who has quickly elevated his game to become one of the best in the league. A first round matchup with the Phoenix Coyotes is very favorable for the Kings if they plan on making any kind of run. If they match-up against San Jose or Chicago in the opening round it will be bye bye for LaLa, though expect the Kings to come back even stronger and make a serious run next year. All that is missing from this young squad is experience.

2010 NBA Playoffs Preview – Los Angeles Lakers

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

2010 lakers nba playoff predictions matchups tickets 150x150 2010 NBA Playoffs Preview Los Angeles LakersThe Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2009-10 season as the odds on favorite to repeat as NBA champions. Anything less for fans in LaLa land would be a huge disappointment. Here is our guide for The Lakers in the 2010 NBA Playoffs:

Home Games Played At: Staples Center

Key Players: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher

Head Coach: Phil Jackson

How They Fared in 2009: NBA Champions defeating The Orlando Magic in 5 games in the NBA Finals

2010 LA Lakers Playoff Prediction: The 2010 Lakers playoff success will ultimately come down to health. When healthy, the L.A. Lakers are the most talented team in the league. Few will argue that statement. However, Andrew Bynum is hurt entering the playoffs once again, Kobe Bryant has nursed a broken finger, sore thigh, and injured back all season, and age is slowly creeping up on Derek Fisher. The Mavericks have bolstered their lineup to compete with the Lake show, and The Nuggets have something to prove after last years grueling NBA Western Conference Finals defeat. Despite all this, the Lakers should find themselves in the 2010 NBA Finals. If its a Lakers Cavs NBA Finals then Cleveland would have home court advantage which would be a big factor considering the Cavaliers are undefeated against L.A. this year. The Lakers do have a better record than both Boston and Orlando so a game 6 and 7 of the NBA Finals would be played at Staples Center against both of those teams. Lebron James could prove tough but we still see the Lakers repeating as 2010 NBA Champs, and we fully expect to see the Larry O’Brien Trophy being hoisted in a parade down Figueroa in Downtown LA come June.

Kobe Bryant Doubtful For Game Against Celtics

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

kobe out vs celtics 150x150 Kobe Bryant Doubtful For Game Against CelticsESPN.com is reporting Kobe Bryant will most likely miss the Los Angeles Lakers big game vs their arch rival Boston Celtics this Thursday, February 18th, at Staples Center. It appears as if his sore left leg is taking longer to heal than expected – another of many nagging injuries Bryant has played with all year including a broken finger and sprained ankle.

According to Kobe on Wednesday afternoon, “Right now, it’s a no. If I wake up tomorrow and I feel drastically different then I’ll play. But, I doubt it.” “It’s sore. I can’t push off of it enough to play so I’ll just take my time, do therapy around the clock and go after it as aggressively as I play.”

Does this injury affect prices on Lakers vs Celtics tickets? Hmm??? Why don’t you try making an offer at SaveFans! and see what kind of last minute deal you can get!

Michael Jackson Public Memorial Tickets

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

A few of you have asked us how you can attend Michael Jackson’s public memorial service so we thought we would pass along this information to our loyal readers.

The service is being held at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles this coming Tuesday, July 7th at 10am. It will be simulcast live across the street at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Tickets will not go on sale to the public, rather a random lottery is being held on Staples Center’s website.

Please keep checking back with SaveFans! as there is a slight chance we will be able to make a limited number of tickets available.

Oops Ticketmaster Did It Again… And Got CAUGHT!

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Last week we shocked the world with our exclusive post letting everyone know Ticketmaster the “Hypocrite Master” is scalping tickets directly on Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster.ca through a program called Ticketexchange. Our readers asked for proof and as usual SaveFans! delivers.

Well wouldn’t you know Ticketmaster is scalping tickets for the pop princess herself, Britney Spears! We crunched the numbers and here are the results. A total of 15 shows are currently on sale on Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster.ca for Britney’s Circus tour. As of Saturday, June 20th at 5pm pst,  Ticketexchange was offering a total of 5690 tickets for a whopping $1,478,550.64 (Ticketmaster is also holding high bid wins auctions and VIP seats which makes this number even higher). Here is a breakdown per show:

britney ticketmaster scalping Oops Ticketmaster Did It Again... And Got CAUGHT!

As if this isn’t disgusting enough, Ticketmaster is actually retailing a pair of tickets to the Las Vegas show at Mandalay Bay Resort on September 6th for $2,698.44 per ticket!!!!!!

britvegas Oops Ticketmaster Did It Again... And Got CAUGHT!

So how do we know that Ticketmaster is responsible for these seats? Well we were lucky enough to catch a glitch on Ticketmaster’s part that placed the Ticketexchange seats on sale BEFORE the show even went on sale to the public! And since you need to register a bank account and input the bar codes from the tickets to list tickets for sale on Ticketexchange it is literally impossible that these seats could have come from anyone but a Ticketmaster insider. Here is a screen shot taken on June 19th at 3am (the show wasn’t on sale until 10am).

Los Angeles Lakers are the 2009 NBA Champs – Parade time in LA!

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers are the 2009 NBA Champions. Say what you want about fans in La La land but they sure can celebrate. Local donors have contributed upwards of $850,000 towards a victory parade expected to draw over 1 million people from Staples Center to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Car flags are waving and crazy fans are sleeping outside the Coliseum just to see the boys in purple and gold holding the Larry O’Brien trophy one last time.

We know Angelinos, the conclusion of the parade means one thing. Lakers withdrawal… So until the 2010 season kicks off here’s some other sports alternatives:
