The New York Jets vs. The Toronto Bills?

Monday, August 10th, 2009

buffalo bills toronto series The New York Jets vs. The Toronto Bills? As some of you may or may not know the Buffalo Bills signed a $78 million deal to play eight games over the next five years in good ol’ Toronto Ontario. Yes yes… break out those Ketchup Chips and Smarties because the NFL has now taken residency in the great white north, Canada. Dubbed the “Bills Toronto Series” the 5 regular season games and 3 preseason games played in Canada represent a first for a NFL – annual home games outside the U.S. Seeing how SaveFans! loves Canada… and football… we think this marriage is great. Now if we could only get an NFL team in Los Angeles… In the meantime Bills fans, Torontonians, Canadians, NFL fans, whoever you may be, pay what you want for tickets to this year’s Bills game at Rogers Centre vs. The New York Jets on Dec. 3rd.

Here is a funny Budweiser – NFL – Buffalo Bills commercial. When are we going to see one from Molson?

Top 10 Canadian Musicians of All Time

Monday, May 11th, 2009

As many of you know, SaveFans.com is staffed chalk full of concert loving Canadians. Love the Great White North baby!

I decided to share with you what I think will become the definitive list of Top Ten Canadian musicians of all time. This promises to be better than our world famous Top 10 Jewish musicians list. Gotta love Canada baby! Without further delay, we present you with the Top 10 list.

Number #10 – Celine Dion

Celine Dion is flat out one of the finest singers to ever walk the planet. Say what you will about her musical selection or fashion sense, but this classy Diva from Montreal has some massive pipes! Celine is also a savvy business woman who earned a reported $100M+ for her two year stint at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas…wow.

Number #9 Snow aka Darrin O’Brien

Admit it! This makes you nostalgic. This Reggae jam owned the airwaves and dominated MTV’s video rotation in the 90′s. Informer, something something something…yeah! Ironically, Snow has since moved from Toronto, Canada to pursue a career as a doctor in Toledo, Ohio.

Number #8 The Guess Who

The Guess Who were straight up cool. They ruled the roost in the 70′s and represented Winnipeg well. With hits like “Shaking All Over” and “These Eyes” almost everyone in North America is familiar with their work. Seriously check them out. They are doing a short tour with most of the original band in tow. I recommend that you catch The Guess Who at Del Mar Fairgrounds on June 23! Worth a trip to the States no?

Number #7 The Tragically Hip

Us Canadians know that the Tragically Hip are more than the REM of Canada! The crew from Kingston have entertained us for years and always bring the goods. Show your support my lovelies by going to their shows!

The Tragically Hip at Massey Hall Tickets on May 16
The Tragically Hip at Massey Hall Tickets on May 19
The Tragically Hip at k-Rock Centre Tickets on May 23

#6 Lukas Rossi

Lukas won Rockstar Supernova, basically American Idol for Rock in 2006. Lukas is a brilliant musician and vocalist that we KNOW will make Canada proud. His new album will be coming out later this year, so we encourage you to support this young and emerging talent from Toronto, Ontario.

#5 Gordon Lightfoot

While, he may not be your cup of tea, he is for your parents and laid back folk! I saw him perform in Vancouver a few years back and it was a special experience. I urge you to support Gordon by checking out a few of his prime shows.

Gordon Lightfoot at Massey Hall Tickets on May 18
Gordon Lightfoot at Massey Hall Tickets on May 21

Number #4 Alanis Morissette

This Jagged little pill was a pillar of Alternative Rock in the 90′s. Famous for several awesome and iconic videos that ruled the MTV video rotation, Alanis may be best known for dating fellow Canadian Dave Coulier when she was ONLY 15 years of age. Scandalous!

Number #3 Neil Young

Neil is the elder statesman of rock. Beginning with the Buffalo Springfield, moving on to Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and finally as a solo artist, Neil embodies what it means to be a musician’s musician. Living in Los Angeles, you grow to appreciate creative professionals opinions and the consensus is unanimous – Neil Young is boss. Anyone going to check out Crosby, Stills, and Nash without Neil Young?

Number #2 Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams is the Jesus Christ of the mid 90′s love song. Once cast as lead for the film Don Juan DeMarco, Bryan Adams had to settle for merely writing a song for the film when the studio got cold feet and replaced him with Johnny Depp. He wrote a little song called “Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman” heard of it icon smile Top 10 Canadian Musicians of All Time

Show your support for fellow Canadian Bryan Adams and grab your tickets!

Bryan Adams at Place Del Arts Tickets on August 10
Bryan Adams at National Arts Centre Tickets on August 12
Bryan Adams at Massey Hall Tickets on August 13
Bryan Adams at Roy Thomson Hall Tickets on August 14

Number #1 Rush

Rush is easily one of the best bands ever. Led by Jewish dynamo Geddy Lee, Rush was a vital force in the music business with an ever evolving sound that spanned Progressive Rock to Synthesizer laden pop (Tom Sawyer anyone). I love Rush and I hope you feel the same! Limelight baby!

Bruce Springsteen Tickets are Cheaper Than Expected

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

SaveFans.com aims to be bigger than StubHub and TicketsNow. That is our goal plain and simple.

Since we have the 411 on the ticket industry, we wanted to alert you to lower than expected offers for Bruce Springsteen tickets. This can be happening for any number of reasons, but rest assured the shows are NOT selling well. This is bargain basement time as secondary market tickets are currently selling BELOW FACE VALUE.

Don’t say SaveFans.com doesn’t love you. I continue to boost the Springsteen shows and think that you should consider attending these specific performances from the Boss!

Top 10 Catholic Musicians of All Time

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

In honor of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday – we put together a list of the Top 10 Catholic Musicians of all time! Of course, you know we are going to focus on pop and rock and are totally going to ignore Luciano Pavarotti and all that kind of noise. So without further delay, in descending order – Your Top 10 list.

Number #10 Dave Matthews

This South African idol was raised Catholic and attended their notoriously fun schools for most of his boyhood. While, he has recently declared himself to be Agnostic – which is the celebrity trend these days – I have decided to ignore his wishes and include him on our list.

I also want to inform my treasured readers that Dave Matthews Band is on tour and that we have set up a page for you to browse. Thank me later.

Number #9 Nicole Scherzinger aka Nicole Elikolani Prescovia Valiente of the Pussy Cat Dolls

OK, I admit the Pussy Cat Dolls are completely worthless. Additionally, Nicole doesn’t seem to be very talented. However, you have to admit that she has a nice rack. Truly great – it seems like the tabloids and media are really pushing this point home in recent months. And people, I am buying.

Number #8 Frankie Valli aka Francesco Stephen Castelluccio and the Four Seasons

This is my old school surprise choice and secret fascination. I mean we are talking about an ant of a guy with a woman’s voice that nonetheless was a legendary lady killer in his day. For example, how many people know that the sweet and innocent sounding “Oh What a Night” is about a one night stand…with a prostitute!

Also, I love that this guy is getting more recognition due to the success of the theater show Jersey Boys. I know it sounds funny, but you gotta see the show. Take my advice and skim the Jersey Boys tickets page we set up just for you!

Number #7 Christina Aguilera

While, I hate her music I happen to think Xtina is hot with a nice set of…vocal cords. Managed by the most evil guy in the biz – Irving Azoff – this former Mousekateer has moved lots of merchandise and concert tickets. A saner version of Britney Spears really.

Number #6 Depeche Mode

Catholic roots – good enough for me. Then again do I even need to defend this? These guys sang about “Personal Jesus” and put together the extravagant Playing the Angels tour. Safe to say these guys have a spiritual streak.

Lucky for you dear readers, the band is on tour and we set up a Depeche Mode tickets page for you to browse. Also, try to get to these shows in particular as the industry is abuzz about some surprise.

Depeche Mode Events Tickets at Madison Square Garden August 3
Depeche Mode Events Tickets at The Hollywood Bowl August 16

Number #5 Celine Dion

OK, why is this French Canadian on this list I hear ya. But, let’s be honest. This girl can sing. No one has the vocal cords that she does and almost no modern singer has been able to match her commercial success. She has made untold of gobs of money putting on that show at Caesars Palace. Gotta give some respect.

Number #4 Madonna aka Madonna Louise Ciccone

I am torn about her conclusion her for two reasons. One, she abandoned the Church of Rome and is now into Kabbalah or some shit. Second, I already put her on the Five Worst Jewish Musicians of All Time list. Basically, she used to have a good career so she gets included on the “Good” Catholic list for her past achievements.

That said people, Madonna can rock out. I saw her in Los Angeles earlier this year and you need to see her live to really appreciate her music. Because SaveFans.com got the hookup we set up a browsers page for you to find Madonna Tickets near you!

Number #3 Bruce Springsteen

The Boss, America’s Poet and all that Jazz. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band really do know how to put on a show as they demonstrated in the last Super Bowl. Take it from me. Check out his last ever tour and find the Bruce Springsteen tickets that are right for you! Look out for a few of the premier shows including their special Clearwater Concert at the Madison Square Garden featuring the Dave Matthews Band.

Bruce Springsteen Event Tickets at the Wachovia Spectrum on April 28
Bruce Springsteen Event Tickets at the Madison Square Garden on May 5
Bruce Springsteen Event Tickets at the Air Canada Centre on May 7

Number #2 Morrissey

I am a huge Morrissey fan. I know you either love him or hate him, but I gotta tell you straight up – the man’s a genius and has been so for decades now. I saw him last year in Santa Monica nice guy. I promised him that I would ask you to check him out at his last two 2009 US shows.
Morrissey Event Tickets at the Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque on April 15
Morrissey Event Tickets at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland on April 18

Morrissey sends his love.

Number #1 U2

Who else did you think it was going to be? Bono, The Edge, and co. have been representing for Catholics for years! Whether it is fighting to end hunger, poverty, or AIDs, the boys from Ireland are center stage and constantly affirming their faith. Granted you got to wonder sometime, I mean was I the only once that saw the photos of Bono cavorting with those teenage and underdressed girls aboard his yacht earlier this year? Not that I gotta problem with that – that earns him points in my book.

Got a problem with Bono? Tell him yourself as his tour is re-routing back to the United States. We set up a U2 Tickets page for you guys and also encourage you to check out the following specific dates as these are the can’t miss shows!

U2 Event Tickets at Soldier Field on September 12
U2 Event Tickets at Giants Stadium on September 25

Elton John & Billy Joel Concert Tickets mixed with Almost Famous

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

So, I was watching TV today – hungover and tired from last night’s escapades. Flipping the channels and lo and behold everyone’s favorite feel good film Almost Famous pops up on HBO. It was the scene where the kid reporter was freaking out when suddenly Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” hit’s the airwaves. Before long Billy Crudup and the less talented actors were chiming in and all is right in the world – fantastic.

Anyways, my point is simple. Elton John is great and he is even better in concert. Get your Elton John Event Tickets at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas or see him in concert with Billy Joel. We think it is worth your time, so I want to recommend a view venues for the Elton John and Billy Joel spectacular myself.

SaveFans.com has U2 tickets to shows all across Europe and the United States. That being said, I got the inside scoop and want to let you know about the hottest shows on the tour!
